I need everyone in the hockey pool to PM me the players that you're choosing NOT to keep, please keep in mind that if you intend to use your rookie draft picks, you need to have enough room to draft them so you will need to let go of players. And I don't believe Yahoo lets you go into a draft placing players on "N/A" or "IR" so keep that in mind as well.

Also check out the home page for updates on league rules and the draft.

It's good to hear about Vey bulking up and getting ready for this season. He obviously knows he wasn't at his best last year; hoping he can regain some of what he showed in the AHL even if he was playing with guys like Toffoli. I also think that Gaunce has done great so far, probably one of our better looking prospects in the first 2 games. This Higgins injury may have really been a blessing in disguise.

As for the Sedins, it's nice to see them giving everybody a chance. Was sad to see Kenins not stick considering how much I like him as a player, but why not give Grenier a shot? Considering the small amount of legitimate scoring talent we have right now, it makes a lot more sense to keep Vrbata on the second line.

I wouldn't mind seeing Vey moved to Higgins' spot on the wing and see another option at 4th line centre, but I think they are really trying to develop Vey at centre. It was nice to see him do pretty good in the circle the other night, he often sucked last year.

I think WD said they were going to try a bunch of different combos to get a good look at what they have for options. Curious to see what combos get long looks.

Bo with Burrows and Vrbata sounds interesting.

Yeah, both him and Gaunce are weird because they both started at C but have been moved to the wing. I really don't know who the better option is but considering how well Gaunce has been playing and Vey's FO success, he's probably better off left on the dot.

That does sound good. That said, going off of how Benning has treated his acquisitions so far, Bo is going to have to pry that spot from Sutter's dead body. Not that I don't like Sutter, he just isn't somebody you should rely on for offense.

- Sweeticlayd

When healthy, I'd roll with this to start:

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Baertschi - Horvat - Vrbata
Higgins - Sutter - Hansen
Prust - Gaunce - Dorsett
Vey

Give JV his 9 games while Higgins is out but if he's not ready then have Kenins fill that spot until Higgins is back.

I don't think anyone on here ever thought that one day Bo wouldn't surpass Sutter. It was a when not an if. He was also brought here to shelter Bo, but Bo has other thoughts.

Sutter should be a third line C and I still stand behind that trade as a positive move by the club.

Bo with Vrbata will make Vrby happy. I like also trying Grenier on the top line as we talked about yesterday.

In the limited time he got to play Shink looked very determined. I feel kind of bad for the guy ... he is getting the short end of the stick in terms of coach/media attention. Hopefully that drives him to break through.

And a prediction ... the Sedins are going to take a lot of penalties in OT.

They tend to go for a hold/hook when it looks like they are going to get caught. And 3 on 3 you are getting caught ever other play.

Subban and Shinkaruk both got screwed IMO. I don't think Benning likes either of them as much as some fans do.

I can understand Shikaruk being considered a smallish skilled forward stuck behind BeeGee and Vey, and really has to step up to get noticed.

JB should be happy he has a potential dynamic offensive dman in Subban, minimum success would be a Y.Weber sort of pp specialist, but who knows what his ceiling is? Is Hutton seen as more defensiively responsible or refined than Subban? JB likes his poise.

True on all counts.

By all accounts Bo should be the 2LC solidly by end of season.

Bonino was 3LC anyways and Sutter is still an upgrade in every way... even if Sutter remains 3LC here for awhile.

Of course Vrbata would be happy with Bo. With Bo's 200' game Vrbata would be freewheeling out there. With the Sedins Vrbata had to be on edge defensively cause there were times where the Sedins were struggling on D. Won't be the case with Bo.

But yet Vrbata didn't name Sutter, he specifically named Bo. Sutter is supposed to have a strong two-way game no?

Perfect. I know Gaunce is best at wing but he may be a great fit in the middle on the 4rth.

I was worried Sutter would get in the way of Horvat moving up. Horvat has the ability to force the issue with his excellent play that cannot be ignored.

Sutter does have a real good two way game but I can see why Vrbata would single Bo out. Vrbata had a first hand look at Bo's development last season as a teammate where Vrbata don't know much about Sutter coming in...yet. I'm sure we will see it both ways on the line combos, but Vrbata I think sees something in Bo's game that may provide the chemistry he is looking for in a linemate.

He has made a good impression.

with all the options with prospects (nhl, utica or junior bound) and roster spots, i wish they'd allow clubs to be over the cap or roster limit for the first 9 games.

Gaunce will end up in the lineup sooner or later this season, Cassels too. I am wondering if McCann will get his 9 games if he can get going here? JV will get his look.

I am wondering if Horvat is earning more of an offensive role if one of Sven or Vrbata will end up on his line and spread out the offense a bit between the 2nd and 3rd lines? Bo is on a mission.

I don't think it was disguised. It was just a plain old blessing. Pure and simple.
